Services Offered.
Laudium Mental Health Society is committed to improve the quality of lives of people
with intellectual and psychiatric disability. We provide specialized social work services in the sector of Mental Health. Some of these services include:
Trauma and Bereavement counselling
Supportive services to families
Promoting a positive lifestyle and wellness
A range of psychosocial support services
Prevention and awareness campaigns etc
Psychosocial Support Services
With regards to Psychosocial Support Services that are offered, those include a range of counselling services, screening and admission of new workshop clients, presenting awareness campaigns, referrals to different organizations etc.
In addition to the psychosocial support services offered, social workers also provide Awareness and Prevention Programmes on mental health as frequently as possible and on as many platforms as possible. Our aim is to improve public opinions and attitudes towards those with mental disability, reduce the stigma associated with mental disability and reiterate the importance of maintaining good mental health. Our programmes are often done at clinics and schools.
School Mental Health Service
We offer short-term social work services to local schools.
We provide services in three primary areas namely awareness and prevention, early intervention & group work.
We address problems such as mild anxiety, depression, bereavement and behavioural problems presented by learners when it impacts on their school performance.
Adult Protective Workshop
Laudium Mental Health Society has adult protective workshop that admits persons with intellectual disabilities.
The organisation is mandated by the Department of health to admit persons with severe to profound intellectual disabilities. Our adult protective workshop serves as a psycho-social rehabilitation facility for adults with intellectual disabilities.
The service users at our workshop participate in various activities such as contract work, life skills training, hygiene, self-awareness, arts and crafts, baking, computer literacy classes and many more social and recreational activities. Projects throughout the year include the Winter Warmth Project, Food Hamper Distribution and Sanitary Napkin Drive. With regards to Food Hampers, the organization has been distributing food hampers to our service users since the onset of the Covid 19 pandemic.
